About Me
Hello!
I'm Dave, a UX Researcher and Designer based in New York City. Previously, I worked in the world of software, first as an engineer working on an API management tool and then as a curriculum designer writing lessons and exercises to teach Java to AP Computer Science students.
As much as I appreciated the power of code and the importance of what it can do, I found myself drawn to more human-centered questions: Does this site make sense to a user who's never been here before? Does this layout make it easy to find what a user is looking for? Are these input fields labeled sensibly? After some exploration, I realized I was already headlong into my journey toward the world of design.

I'm very excited to bring my creativity, knowledge, and experience to this new phase of my life. I can't wait to start designing the next great new thing to change the world, and I especially can't wait to figure out what users want that thing to be like.
Outside the Office
Outside of my work life, I do a whole bunch of fun stuff.
Sports!
I've been an avid competitive ultimate frisbee player for 20 years, having traveled all over the continent to play. Before that I played volleyball. Before that I played tennis...and baseball, and table tennis, and so many others. I love friendly competition and the bonds we forge through sport.
Trivia!
I host a trivia night at a bar in the East Village, and love being a contestant too.
Creative Writing!
I've written a few short stories and feature-length film scripts.
Movies!
I have a Masters degree in Cinema Studies from Tisch at NYU. I've never lost my love of film; I could watch and talk movies all day.
